CITYGRASS! A NIGHT OF ALT-COUNTRY

May 9, 2006 (Montreal, Quebec) May 26 at La Sala Rossa is your chance to join in a celebration raising the profile of Montreal’s roots and country-influenced music scene, featuring five bands at the forefront of the Alt-Country and Citygrass movements.  There will be much swaying and dancing, drinking and cheering on this raucous, rousing not to be missed night of Citygrass in Montreal.

Citygrass! A Night of Alt-Country will take place Friday, May 26, 2006 at La Sala Rossa (4848 St. Laurent, Montreal). The show begins at 8 pm with Little Birdie, followed by Katie Moore at 9 pm, Lee Mellor and the Mudhounds at 10 pm, The United Steel Workers of Montreal at 11 pm and Li’l Andy at 12 pm. Tickets are 8$ in advance and 10$ at the door.

Steeped in the legacy of some of the world’s greatest music, these performers have crafted music with rhythms and themes branching directly from the spirit of today’s urban reality. With their roots entrenched in the classics of the people’s music, they’ve listened with modern ears and crafted a style that is truly of this time and place.

The show is being produced by UrbanHanded Works, a multimedia company that houses an independent recording studio that Gern f. built around The United Steel Workers of Montreal’s debut album, Broken Trucks and Bottles. He designed Studio UrbanHanded Works with a mandate to provide the same recording opportunities for local independent bands.
